Sarah McKinnon, Smack Float Assistant

Sarah has been in love with the ocean and lobster boats for as long as she can remember. As a young girl she used to call her grandfather on the CB radio while he was out lobstering on his boat the Jeanette E. She would ask how many lobsters he had caught, when would he be home, and could he please just come pick her up. She started out sitting on the bow of his boat and quickly graduated to banding lobsters, baiting traps and finally to working with her uncle, Jason Hamilton, for a few seasons.

Sarah worked on the stern of a few other boats until settling into working with her brother-in-law, Stephen Todd, on the smack boat. There she was able to channel her early love for talking on the radio by doing the morning bait call to all of the boats out lobstering. She has worked with Stephen on the smack, taking care of our lobsters and delivering bait, for 6 lobster seasons and is already looking forward to the next one.

When she is not on the boat or the float Sarah can be found sitting in a classroom getting her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, encouraging her community to compost, or messing about on boats with her dog Frodo and her boyfriend Kyle.
